The Path to Recovery is Not a Straight Line
June 13, 2026
In late March of 2017 LaLa entered a detox in Connecticut and from there started a very helpful program in Connecticut. We were so proud of her. She trully seemed more focused and commited to her health than I had seen her in a long time. She had HOPE!
This note was written on Fathers day. Lauren had shared the card you see her with me for Father’s Day. She also got up announcing that she wanted to go to church as a family instead of going to the court mandated family gorup. You could read this article “Why We Chose Love” OR click Subscribe below to recieve this weeks additional note via email for more understand of why I wrote this note.
Navigating the path of loving some one in addiction is nuanced. We want to try to do things that help our loved one to feel alive and human!

This is the last Fathers day Card I ever recieved from Lauren
My Fathers Day Note to LaLa. As I wrote these words I had no idea we only had a few short weeks to be with her. Please do not give up on your loved one!

For each week of this series I send out a follow-up email with more details about what was happenning for Lauren and our family on the occasion of writing the note. This week i touches on various treatments and how this new thrapist was a great help for LaLa.
